Growing from seed, there will always be an odd seedling that does something different. This is evolution in action and makes growing from seed an exciting venture.

Some resulting forms are worth keeping and can be very attractive.

Sometimes, a normal, rounded cactus can produce a crested growth or "cristation. These are often worth keeping and propagating. Some collectors will specialise in collecting these crested forms.
